Almost everyone will experience hair thinning at some point in their lives. Whatever the case may be, you can blame it all on your genes. Vitamins For Hair Loss Female

“Our hair starts to thin at a certain point,” says dermatologist Mona Gohara, MD, associate clinical professor at Yale School of Medicine. “This can happen when we’re young (in our teens or twenties for some), but it usually happens when we’re in our late forties.” This is usually inherited. It’s similar to detecting gray hairs: if it happened to your parents at a specific age, it’ll most likely happen to you at the same age. You may notice a bigger gap in your hair portion or a creeping backward hairline.

Hair thinning can be caused by a variety of factors, including stress, scalp tension, and disease, to mention a few. But what about one of the other most well-known causes of hair loss? Deficiencies in vitamins. While it’s normal to lose 50-150 strands of hair per day, dermatologist Noelani González, MD, says that if you’ve noticed that your hairbrush is picking up a few more strands than usual, it could be because you’re deficient in nutrients, following a special diet, or suffering from a condition that depletes these vitamins.

While there is no firm evidence that any particular vitamin would make your hair grow (or regrow) faster, Gonzalez points to research that relates vitamins to various forms of hair loss and follicle health. (In other words, if you don’t get enough of them, you can lose your hair.) The vitamins in question are as follows:

According to Vandana Sheth, RDN, a registered dietitian in Los Angeles and author of My Indian Table: Quick & Tasty Vegetarian Recipes, “foods rich in B-complex vitamins help with hair health and renewal of cells important for hair growth.” Whole grains, dark leafy greens, seafood, and meat are all good sources of B vitamins.

Vitamin D:

According to Dr. Gohara, “this is a vitamin that assists with general immunity.” It was just recently discovered to be related to hair health. Those with brown skin who live in colder climates with insufficient UV exposure are more likely to be vitamin D deficient, she says.
Omega-3 fatty acids: According to Sheth, these fats are a “excellent supply of protein that can assist boost the strength of your strands.” Salmon, tuna, mackerel, sardines, chia seeds, flaxseed flour, and walnuts are all good sources.
According to Dr. Gohara, zinc has been related to fighting the yeast that causes dandruff, irritation, and hair loss in the form of excessive shedding.

According to Dr. Gohara, “those who are iron deficient can get anemia and lose their hair as a result.” “This can occur as a result of low-iron diets, severe menstrual cycles with significant blood loss, or other medical issues.”
B12: Because this vitamin is commonly found in meats, vegetarians who have hair thinning may also experience brittle and dry hair, according to Dr. Gohara.

Is a supplement that you’ve probably tried before. It used to be regarded as the holy grail of hair, skin, and nails. However, according to Dr. Gohara, it’s now out of favor due to a lack of scientific evidence to back up claims.

Vitamin E

Has been discovered to protect against oxidative stress, according to Sheth. Avocado, sunflower seeds, almonds, and spinach are all good sources.
Dr. González says that “hair-growth supplements and some of these vitamins may be effective for those patients who are experiencing hair thinning, hair loss, and/or don’t have a sufficient consumption of specific vitamins.” “Vitamin supplementation can be thought of as supplying your hair with the required nutrients for it to develop in a healthy manner.”

All of this is to say that if you aren’t vitamin deficient, taking a supplement won’t make much of a difference. Check-in with your doctor if you’re not sure where you stand with your vitamin intake. They might suggest a blood test to figure out what you’re missing.

Meanwhile, there are a plethora of vitamins and hair-growth supplements on the market, and if you’re trying to narrow down your choices to a few of the best, you’ll find the picks that have been pre-screened by experts just for you ahead.
