Why Deep Conditioning 4c Hair Can Rock Your World!

Mastering the art of deep conditioning 4c hair can be a struggle but once your know why it’s important to do what you do then you will find it much easier.

So let us start with the basics, what exactly is deep conditioning and why is it so important for your 4c hair

WHAT IS DEEP CONDITIONING AND WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT?

In simple words, deep conditioning helps improve the look, feel, and manageability of your hair with a better outcome in the long run.
When you keep deep conditioning your hair, it will produce healthier, softer, less damaged hair.
So how do you maintain healthy hair? Glad you asked girl! In order to maintain healthy hair, there needs to be a balance between protein and moisture.

What are protein treatments?

Protein treatments are a vital part of keeping natural healthy, too. Our hair is mostly made up of a protein called keratin.
If your hair lacks protein,  it can feel and look brittle and have low elasticity.
And when there’s a lack of moisture, your hair will be looking and feeling dry, dull, and lifeless, which leads to breakage.
When you are able to balance them you will then be able to create a healthy environment for natural hair to grow and prosper.
Most deep conditioners work differently, some promise to repair damage hair, others are meant for restoration, and some say they’ll make the hair easier to detangle.
But for sure one of the most important thing that deep conditioning does is to add moisture back into your hair.

That is why picking the right deep conditioner for you is a matter of preference and the overall state of your hair! How To Keep Natural Hair Moisturized All Day

Now that you have a clear understating of what a deep conditioning is let’s check how to deep condition:

HOW TO DEEP CONDITION 4C HAIR

Since your main goal is to revive your hair picking a deep conditioner shouldn’t be difficult. few paragraphs below I’ll share some great deep conditioners for 4c hair.
  • Start with clean hair, since deep conditioning is about restoring moisture, they usually work best after using a clarifying shampoo.
  • After washing, next section the hair and don’t be afraid of being generous with the product. Focus it on your ends, those could always use some extra attention. Start by using your fingers to detangle and work the product through the hair.
  • Go on and wrap your hair in a plastic cap and you can either apply heat. You can use a blow dryer but I like using a hooded dryer or lastly you could steam your hair.
  • Leave the conditioner on for up to 30 minutes, then rinse it with first warm then cold water to seal in the moisture.
Then proceed by using a t-shirt to dry your hair!! Once your hair is damp, apply your products and style as usual.
  • Deep condition for a week minimum for some great results!

The secret is in the banana, which has a way of minimizing shrinkage and softening the hair when mixed with the other ingredients.

Meanwhile, glycerin and honey, which are both humectants, and olive oil, which is known to penetrate the hair, all contribute moisturizing benefits.

Do not be alarmed if you notice a loosening of your coils or curls with this conditioner; the effect is temporary until your next wash day. This recipe is ideal for naturals who want to achieve easier blow‐outs or better-stretched styles.

How To Build A Night Routine For Hair Growth That Works!

Ingredients:
1 large overripe banana (sliced) OR 7 oz banana baby food
4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2 tbsp pure vegetable glycerin
2 tbsp pure honey

Instructions:
Place the sliced banana, extra virgin olive oil, glycerin, and honey all in a blender. Blend the ingredients thoroughly making sure no lumps or banana bits remain.

(Depending on your blender quality, you may or may not have to then sieve the mixture.  Another option is to use banana baby food, though the conditioner may not be as effective.)

Apply to hair and let sit for 30–45 minutes under a shower cap. Detangle, rinse thoroughly, and style as usual.

Avocados, olive oil, shea butter, and apple cider vinegar

This homemade conditioner is lubricating, thick, and heavy, all of which give my kinks slip, moisture, and hang for detangling.

The avocado’s meatiness and fatty acid content contribute to the effectiveness of this mixture.  Additionally, the fatty acids in the olive oil combined with the emollient properties of shea butter add even more lubrication and moisturizing benefits.

Lastly, the acidic pH of the apple cider vinegar helps to flatten the cuticles for easier detangling.  This conditioner is ideal for those with thick, dense hair and major shrinkage.

Ingredients:
1 overripe avocado (sliced)
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup unrefined shea butter
2–3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar

When done, apply to the hair and let sit for 30–45 minutes under a shower cap. Detangle, rinse thoroughly, and style as usual.

The Ultimate Winter Natural Hair Care Guide For Longer Hair!

Coconut oil and honey

This conditioner is ideal for naturals whose hair dislikes protein conditioners but needs a bit of strengthening.

The key is the coconut oil, which binds to the hair thus reducing keratin loss. Honey, a humectant, is also added to the mix to impart moisture retention.

I get the best of both worlds – moisture and strength – with this conditioner.  I personally use two servings of the recipe because my hair is really thick, dense, and naturally dry.

Ingredients:
4 tbs of extra virgin coconut oil
2 tbs of pure honey
(depending on hair density or length, you may use two servings of this recipe)

Instructions:
Place the coconut oil and honey in a small cup and place the cup in a large bowl of hot water.  Allow the cup to sit in the water for a few minutes until the mixture is warm.

Pour the mixture onto freshly washed but towel blotted hair.  Put on a shower cap, and wrap with a towel to prevent the mixture from dripping onto the face.

Let it sit for 20 minutes, then rinse out 80–90% of the conditioner, and style as usual.

THINGS TO NOT DO!

DON’T OVERDO IT

Don’t deep condition overnight or for hours on end. The obvious exception to this rule is treatments like henna, that require hours to take to the hair.

But for your everyday run-of-the-mill deep conditioner, it should begin to work instantly, and reach maximum capacity at around the 20 or 30 minute mark.

If your deep conditioner doesn’t work after 30 minutes, it’s time to ditch it for one that’s more effective.

Also, there is a such thing as over-conditioning the hair that can result in mushy, weak hair that has a more fragile keratin coiling. This is called hygral fatigue.
