20 Insanely Amazing Deep Conditioner DIY You Have to Try Next!

Simple Banana Deep Conditioner for Dry Hair

Bananas are one of the better kept secrets when it comes to treating dry hair, as they are rich in beneficial vitamins such as potassium and Vitamin A.

Olive oil is used to help penetrate and add moisture to parched strands. Greek yogurt will provide the hair with a healthy balance of moisture and protein to help soften dry hair strands.

You will need:

How to Use: Mix banana and EVOO in a blender until very smooth, then add remaining ingredients and mix well until there are no lumps. Pour mixture through a strainer to remove any extra lumps or banana pulp before applying to your hair. Apply to wet hair, cover with plastic conditioning cap and leave on for a minimum of 30 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.

Egg, Olive oil & Mayonnaise Deep Conditioner diy

What you will need

  • Eggs – 2
  • Olive oil – 1 table scoop
  • Mayonnaise – 1 cup

How to Use: This is an excellent protein conditioner. Take a medium-size bowl and break to eggs and pour. Add a cup of mayonnaise to it, and then add the olive oil. Mix well.

Thoroughly apply all over your hair. Put on a plastic cap and use a hand drier, until it is quite dry and absorbed. Wash off and shampoo.

The 4 mix: Bananas, olive oil, glycerin, and honey Deep Conditioner diy

This homemade conditioner improves the manageability of my hair for post-rinse styling. The secret is in the banana, which has a way of minimizing shrinkage and softening the hair when mixed with the other ingredients.  Meanwhile, glycerin and honey, which are both humectants, and olive oil, which is known to penetrate the hair, all contribute moisturizing benefits.

Ingredients:
1 large overripe banana (sliced) OR 7 oz banana baby food
4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2 tbsp pure vegetable glycerin
2 tbsp pure honey

Instructions:
Place the sliced banana, extra virgin olive oil, glycerin, and honey all in a blender. Blend the ingredients thoroughly making sure no lumps or banana bits remain. (Depending on your blender quality, you may or may not have to then sieve the mixture.  Another option is to use banana baby food, though the conditioner may not be as effective.) Apply to hair and let sit for 30-45 minutes under a shower cap. Detangle, rinse thoroughly, and style as usual.

The Delicious: Avocado Deep Conditioner diy

Aside from avocados being extremely delicious, they are also great for treating dry and brittle hair, as they are rich in vitamins, oleic acid and other essential fatty acids. Honey is a natural humectant, and by adding this with naturally moisturizing oils, it will help the hair to retain moisture, strengthen the hair follicle, and enhance the overall texture of the hair.

You will need:

  • 1 avocado, mashed well
  • 2 tablespoons pure or organic honey
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil (or extra-virgin olive oil)
  • plastic conditioning cap

How to Use: Be sure that your avocado is mashed very well. Add the avocado and the remaining ingredients to a blender, mixing until smooth. Apply to wet hair, cover with plastic conditioning cap and leave on for one hour. Rinse thoroughly and follow up with a light conditioner if needed.

Coconut Aloe Deep Conditioner diy

This conditioner is going to change your hair’s life! Yes it is a bold statement but it is true. Do you know one of those Holy Grail products that everyone and their grandmother is going on about? This is it! If your hair is dull, dry and not styling well this will RESET you hair back to happier times.

What you will need

  • Paring Knife
  • Blender
  • Measuring Cup
  • Measuring spoons

How to Use:  ¼ cup honey/ agave nectar, 1 can coconut milk, ½ cup Aloe vera chopped, 2 tablespoons coconut oil, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 tablespoon black castor oil, 1 tablespoon moringa oiloptions or any oil of your choice e.g. jojoba, 1 ½ tablespoon xanthan gum and a few drops of essential oil of your choice, preservative, optional.

Yogurt – Homemade Deep Conditioner diy

Yogurt’s benefit, as far as your hair is concerned, is its protein content. Protein is an essential nutrient to the growth of your hair and nails as well as your internal organs. If you don’t eat enough protein, your body will automatically divert the protein it does get to support your organs, leaving your hair unable to grow.

What you will need:

      • 3 tbsp Yogurt
      • 1 tsp Honey
      • 1 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar

How to Use:

    1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and set it aside.
    2. Wash your hair with shampoo and warm water.
    3. Squeeze the water out of your hair and start working the conditioner through it.
    4. Wait for 15 minutes with the conditioner in your hair and then rinse it out with cool/lukewarm water.

What you will need

  • 1 small jar of real mayonnaise
  • 1/2 of an avocado
  • Shower cap
  • Towel

How to Use: Combine the mayo and avo in a medium bowl and squish together with your hands until it’s a smooth consistency and minty green color.

Apply the treatment to your hair. For long hair, you may want to double the recipe. I recommend loading up the ends with this stuff and going lighter on the roots.

In fact, if you have super long hair, you could only apply to the roots. Saturate the places that need it most! Put on a shower cap or wrap your head in a towel (a little messier).

Leave on for 20 minutes. For deeper conditioning put a hot, damp towel around your head (you can throw a damp towel in the dryer to get it warm). Rinse.

Calendula oil & Coconut oil Deep Conditioner diy

What you will need

  • Calendula oil – 1 tsp
  • Coconut oil – 1 tbsp

How to UseThis process is known as hot oil treatment for hair. For this, first mix both the oils in a small size bowl and then place the bowl in a bigger bowl containing just-boiled water.

As the mixture warms up, apply this all over your hair immediately before it cools down. Next, soak a big towel in the hot water and wrap your hair from all around your scalp, so as to create a temporary steam between your scalp and the towel.

This should work. Wait for 5-10 minutes and wash off your hair with warm water.

Apple Cider Vinegar – Homemade Deep Conditioner diy

Apple cider vinegar is naturally high in acetic acid and has a pH level which is close that of human hair.

Regularly rinsing with this vinegar can help bring your scalp and hair to its ideal acidity, especially if you have oily hair.

  • Mix equal amounts of water with apple cider vinegar to reduce its acidic property and use it as a final rinse after washing and shampooing your hair. This simple remedy will make the hair frizz less and also add shine to your hair. You can use it every two to four weeks.
  • Alternatively, you can apply apple cider vinegar diluted with water onto your scalp with a cotton ball. Then comb your hair gently to distribute the solution. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse your hair well. Repeat this once a week.

Avocados, olive oil, shea butter, and apple cider vinegar Deep Conditioner diy

This homemade conditioner is lubricating, thick, and heavy, all of which give my kinks slip, moisture, and hang for detangling.

Ingredients:
1 overripe avocado (sliced)
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup unrefined shea butter
2-3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar

Instructions:
Place the sliced avocado, unrefined shea butter, extra virgin olive oil(EVOO), and apple cider vinegar (ACV) into a blender. (There is no need to melt the shea butter ahead of time.)

Blend all the ingredients thoroughly and add more EVOO, if necessary, until the mixture reaches your desired consistency. When done, apply to the hair and let sit for 30-45 minutes under a shower cap. Detangle, rinse thoroughly, and style as usual.

Avocado and Banana Deep Conditioner

What you will need

  • Banana baby food – 1 jar
  • Honey – 1-2 tbsp
  • Coconut/Avocado oil – 1-2 tbsp
  • Coconut cream or milk – ¼ to ½ cup
  • Essential oils (optional, for fragrance) – A few drops

How to UseThis is suitable for almost all types of hair, especially if dull and matted, rendering a healthy glow to your hair. Mix all the ingredients together with the help of a spoon in a bowl.

Apply on hair and wear a shower cap. Keep it for a couple of hours and watch the difference! You can also store this inside the refrigerator for further use.

Coconut oil and honey

This conditioner is ideal for naturals whose hair dislikes protein conditioners but needs a bit of strengthening.  The key is the coconut oil, which binds to the hair thus reducing keratin loss. Honey, a humectant, is also added to the mix to impart moisture retention.

Ingredients:
4 tbs of extra virgin coconut oil
2 tbs of pure honey
(depending on hair density or length, you may use two servings of this recipe)

Instructions:
Place the coconut oil and honey in a small cup and place the cup in a large bowl of hot water.  Allow the cup to sit in the water for a few minutes until the mixture is warm.  Pour the mixture onto freshly washed but towel blotted hair.

Put on a shower cap, and wrap with a towel to prevent mixture from dripping onto face. Let it sit for 20 minutes, then rinse out 80-90% of the conditioner, and style as usual.

Coconut Milk – Homemade Deep Conditioner diy

Coconut milk works as a natural light protein and moisture treatment for dry natural hair. You can extract coconut milk from the flesh of the coconut or opt for one available in the market. It has small molecules that can penetrate deep into the hair follicles, thereby stimulating growth.

Note: You can increase or decrease the portions, in the same ratio, depending on the length of your hair. The quantities listed below are suitable for medium to long hair lengths.

  1. Put two tablespoons of coconut milk in a small pot and heat it until warm. Make sure it doesn’t get too hot and burn.
  2. Apply the warm coconut milk on your hair and cover your head with a towel. Leave it on overnight.
  3. In the morning, wash your hair with shampoo and let your hair dry naturally.
  4. Do this twice a week to enjoy shiny and bouncy hair.

Aloe Vera – Homemade Deep Conditioner diy

Aloe Vera is extensively used in beauty products and for good reason. It’s got antiviral and antibacterial properties, and the ability to help treat everything from constipation to diabetes. The green-cactus looking plant that sits out in your garden isn’t just a plant with its roots in folklore, it’s the crux of a million dollar industry that extends from beauty creams to healthy juices and diet supplements.

  1. Mix the ingredients in a bowl and set it aside.
  2. Wash your hair with shampoo and section in 8 parts
  3. Start working the conditioner through your wet hair – Apply the solution evenly on each section
  4. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse thoroughly

Egg yolk and baby oil Deep Conditioner diy

  • Baby oil- 1 spoon
