Let’s start with the most talked about routine in a naturalista’s hair journey.. “The Washhhh dayyyyy” (Shhhh!)
1. wash day procrastination..
When you are enjoying your hair style then you feel this thick coat of build up.. Wash day has come! Yikes!
What no one tells you is that there will be days in your natural hair journey that you wont feel the desire to go through the entire wash day routine.
[bctt tweet=””The Washhhh dayyyyy” (Shhhh!)” username=”blessed_queens7″]
It’s perfectly normal, don’t worry! Our hair routine is known to be a bit “time consuming”!
It’s best to have a prepared and ready mind than to go into your wash routine in a rush resulting in any form of damage to your hair.
2. Who said Hair products?!
Ohh yes, you will fall in love with so many products that you wont have space on your bathroom counter!
being natural gives you the chance to try all this styles that gave that YouTuber those beautifu curls. If she can have it so can you..
So you get all the Shea moisture line hopping to see what you saw..
What to learn from that is Try a thing at a time. Quality is better than quantity.
As i speak i have a load full of products (hehe) under my bed and i’ve stick to only few staples! My hair is thriving and i am reaching my goal.

3. Help, My Hair has clog my shower drain, Yikes!
One thing i have noticed is that it get easier for my shower drain to get clogged! Your hair strands could be the cause of that if you’re already facing this issue.
If you are a “fix it all alone” type of girl you can check How to Clear a Clogged Shower Drain, I also love this detailed post on How to Unclog a Drain, Shower or Toilet! They have some pretty awesome tips on how to unclog the entire nightmare! (you’re welcome hun!)

If your natural hair is thick then you surely know the struggle during your natural hair journey when it’s time to wash and style your hair.
You’ve done all the right things … prep your hair and you go to bed.. You wake up 8 hours… i repeat…HOURS… later and your hair is still damp!! Whyyyyy!!! (Screaming straight from my mind!!).
It’ happens to the best of the best darling, be prepared to accept the fact that your hair is unpredictable and at any point it can change your hairstyle plans.
My advice to you is to start styling your damp hair earlier leaving plenty of type to dry rather than having unexpected results!
5. Detangling.. how many hours again?!
If your natural hair journey don’t include hours of detangling, then girl i don’tk now in what journey your in!
One thing with natural hair is that you can end up detangling your hair for hours.
[bctt tweet=”Detangling your natural hair is very necessary and should not be overlooked.” username=””]
I tried skipping it and came to find out that i prefer detangled hair than a matted mess after few days!
6. Too tired for my natural hair night routine.. the next morning..
Let me tell you, if you want to look a hot mess then you can go ahead and neglect your night routine. Natural hair looks its best when it’s properly maintained.
If you know you have a important even the next morning then think ahead before its too sleepy late!
I always end up with a pony tail when i feel too sleepy to do my hair (yep, life comes in the way..i feel ya girl!).
7. When wash and go never works for you
You might get it right or even not, Some styles need more practice and others some more patience!
Wash and goes is one of those styles. If you have tight curls (4a+) then you know wash and go may turn out well or it might not.
What i want you to know is that your hair no matter the outcome is just beautiful. Keep trying new techniques and soon enough you will get the right one for your hair type!

8. Watched so many natural hair regimen videos yet haven’t perfect yours?
Your natural hair journey get’s personal when you try something that you’ve seen working for someone yet it doesn’t seem to want to work for you.
Learning by experience is the best teacher. You will have to modify and twists some regimen guidelines in order to fit your natural hair needs.
9. Those hair vitamins ain’t working girl!
When you hear so many positive feedback from other natural haired women when it comes to hair vitamins it makes you want to get them all!
What worked for her suddenly doesn’t work for you! Why?
Hair vitamins are needed when your entire system is lacking some of them.
you might have a perfect daily dose of biotin yet your hair is still breaking from the ends. That is to show you that sometimes it’s not the fault of the vitamins rather than our entire natural hair journey steps.
10. So you tried the inversion method..
The well known inversion method where you turn upside down to promote circulation of the blood flow that will result in hair growth.
You did it for a whole week and your hair didn’t grow a tiny bit of inch!
Let me tell you, you will have to try in order to know if something is worth it.
The same thing goes for your natural hair journey! It might work the first time and not the second. Would you try it again? Would you recommend it?
Get the benefits from doing it and decide for yourself!
11. Twist out on Fleek Everytime! Everytime?…
There is this conception that when you go for a twist out or a braidout it will always come out great! I’m sorry to break the news to you but.. uhhmmm… it’s not always like that!
First of all I love braid outs but still experimenting with twist outs, what i’ve learned is that it doesnt always come out the same.
You might get a great twistout today and a failed one two days from now. Learn to master each style yet know that there is always room for improvements!
12. I’m stuck at the “AKWARD STAGE”!!!
Ohhhh boy here we go!
I’ve been there and i know exactly how it feels… trying to grow pass neck length… that shoulder ain’t going no where(Haha!).
The akward stage is real ladies and my advice to you is to peacefully embrace each length you are in. Keep learning and applying your knowledge in order to pass that stage.
Frustration and neglection will just keep you in that same stage. You can do better!
13. Hiding behind weaves, crochet braids..etc
I will say this,
your natural hair, is beautiful. Embrace it!
Many of us run to weaves and all short of extensions when we need a quick fix. But why not take a bit of time to work on your own God given hair?
Isn’t it worth it? It sure is!
My advice to you is to continue your natural hair journey with a clear mind towards your true hair pattern and know that no matter what your hair is you and you are beautiful!
[bctt tweet=”your natural hair, is beautiful. Embrace it!” username=””]
14.No shrinkage please!
During the first years of my natural hair journey i didn’t want to see my hair shirk. This is something every natural haired woman has been through!
If you’re starting your natural hair journey or you’re in for years shrinkage is surely part of our lives!
What can you do about it? You can choose to find the best method to stretch your natural hair and also keep it moisturized or you could embrace your natural hair shrinkage and let it do it’s thing!
15. Blank mind.. what style should i do today?
Have you come across the moment when you don’t know what to do next to your hair? You have done the right things and your hair is super moisturized. You’ve learned how to trim your natural hair at home so you try that as well and your ends are on point yet your mind goes blank on today’s hairstyle!
16. When you over use heat..like crazy!
Heat is good don’t get me wrong… but.. too much of everything will not result in something positive. Make sure you watch the amount of heat that enters your hair.
Keep track of your hair heat intake in order to avoid the reflection of over heat..that’s the nightmare of every naturalista… Heat damage!! yikesss (Run’s away…!ha!)
17. Difficulty trusting a stylist!
Whe it comes to your hair don’t play games! I mean it, trust a stylist that have done a good job with your hair.
Don;t just go to someone because it’s free! You might end up turning bald (..said whatt?!) yesss! It’s true!
Find and trust one styling and stick with her/him.
If you love trying new people and places always do a research before you actually go. Check for reviews and sample work of theirs!
18. Ugh! Protective styling.. Againnnn??!
I can’t tell you how many times i’ve said i wont get mini twists done on my hair… I’ve said it and break it!!
Protective styles creates a love/hate relationship with some styles but there is always something good in every story.
Finding your staple protective style will help you grow your natural hair much faster!
