Hello and welcome back to Jostylin’s blog. I hope you’ve all had a great start to your week. Today, I’m going to talk about using oils to help you grow your natural hair. Castor oil will be the center of our attention. I’ll talk about how to utilize Castor oil to develop natural hair, the science behind it, the benefits, and some castor oil recipes. There is no doubt a wealth of information on the internet that can be confusing for many naturals, especially those with fuller 4C hair types. Many hair and beauty topics are geared at slightly looser hair textures that hold length more easily.

As a result, I believe that trial and error is the best way to go when attempting to locate the ideal oils for your natural hair. And the purpose of this essay is to provide some factual facts regarding castor oil, as well as my own view based on my personal experience with the oil.

What is Castor Oil, and how does it work?

Many of us naturals have heard of Castor oil, a wonderful natural product known for its castor oil to develop natural hair abilities to help restore hair health and even grow hair. But, exactly, what is it made of? Is it possible for it to grow hair? Let’s start with the natural components and how it’s manufactured.

Icinus communis is the source of castor oil. During the pressing process, the oil is extracted from castor seeds. The oil is mostly colorless or pale yellow after extraction and has a very moderate odor. When you touch it, it feels sticky and thick.

Does Castor Oil Help 4C African Types Grow Hair?

There are many differing opinions on whether castor oil helps thicken hair, with some scientific studies claiming that it cannot. But one thing is certain: it does, however indirectly, help to encourage hair growth.

Castor oil is a natural humectant, which means it draws and retains moisture in the hair and skin, which is why it’s so good for hair development. Because of its exceptional capacity to penetrate deeply, it is able to nourish the pores and follicles that form hair. 4C hair development can be accelerated by 3 to 5 times when castor oil is used on a daily basis.

Castor oil is used to make afro hair.

You might think Castor oil can help you grow hair based on what you’ve read thus far. It’s a little more difficult than that. Castor oil and hair growth do not have a straightforward relationship. Castor oil does not grow hair directly, although it aids in hair development. Allow me to elaborate. When hair maintains moisture, it becomes healthier, which promotes faster hair development. Simply said, humectants like castor oil assist the hair in retaining as much moisture as possible, resulting in hair growth.

Review of My Castor Oil Experience in Growing 4C Natural Hair

The major reason I use castor oil on my hair is because it makes it thick and glossy. It also has a high gloss, giving the hair a beautiful sheen. But be aware that only a small amount of castor oil is required. If you want your hair to remain soft and natural, apply only a small amount near the ends rather than close to the scalp. It’s best, in my opinion, when combined with tea water. Later, we can talk about how to make this recipe.

Castor oil, along with Hemp and Moringa oils, is one of the greatest oils for growing natural hair in my opinion. While castor oil is well-known for its tremendous health benefits and has been used in a variety of sectors for ages, the benefits of castor oil for hair are frequently overlooked. Ricinoleic acid, omega-6 fatty acids, and a total of 18 fatty acids make up the majority of its nutritional value. It also includes a lot of vitamin E and minerals in it.

Castor oil also gives it a healthier appearance after just a few months of use. Castor oil for hair is becoming a popular cure for hair loss and a valuable element for hair regrowth as a result of this.

Castor Oil’s Advantages in Growing Natural African Hair Quickly

Hair grows approximately half an inch per month on average, and from what I’ve seen, African hair adores castor oil! My personal opinion is that heavier hair oils are better for 4C hair. Keep in mind when growing 4C hair that hair growth is more than just increasing the rate at which hair grows; in fact, healthy hair growth requires a number of elements. These variables include hair health, diet, and scalp health, among others. Castor oil for hair is an excellent hair development supplement because it addresses numerous of your hair’s demands in order for it to grow thick and healthy.

Castor oil provides a lot of benefits as well. It is high in vitamins that are beneficial to hair health. Promotes hair development, scalp stimulation, and follicle circulation for healthy hair. It nourishes, repairs, and protects the hair from becoming fragile and dry. As a result, it drastically improves its appearance.

To avoid hair loss, nourish and rebuild your hair, and make it look amazing, you can use liquid castor oil or its pill form. Read my post on How to Grow Black African Hair Fast for additional information on growing 4C hair.

Both men and women experience hair loss or thinning at some point in their lives. It might be brought on by a poor diet or even a prescription.

It is essential to visit your doctor or a trichologist if you are looking for an effective therapy. Hair loss can be caused by a variety of factors, including heredity and iron deficiency anemia.

Castor oil is, in my opinion, a light treatment that should only be used for hair care. Castor oil is a fantastic natural hair product if you desire strong and lustrous hair. It also offers a number of health-promoting effects for conditions including constipation and hair loss. Castor Oil’s Other Qualities

Castor oil is antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, and has other qualities that make it a good therapy for scalp infections in addition to being wonderful for hair care and hair loss. Its high protein concentration makes it extremely beneficial for hair health. It also aids in the battle against diseases like folliculitis, which is an inflammation of the hair follicles. Castor oil for hair contains a significant amount of ricinoleic acid, which promotes blood circulation in the scalp and ensures better nourishment for hair follicles.

This acid also aids in the pH equilibrium of the scalp. Antioxidants in castor oil help to support keratin in the hair, making it softer, stronger, and less frizzy.

What Castor Oil Should You Use to Grow Natural Hair Quickly?

There are many different forms of castor oil, but I prefer to use raw, unprocessed castor oil to stimulate hair growth. It’s the most suited because it’s been mentioned that processed oil loses its effectiveness and loses its natural characteristics.

Organic castor oil, Black castor oil from Jamaica, and Hydrogenated castor oil are the three varieties of castor oil for hair that are commonly used for hair care.

1. Castor Oil, Organic Cold Pressed:

Extracted without the use of heat directly from the castor seed. It works by pressing with an ejector, which is a mechanical and non-chemical manner. The cold pressing process ensures that none of the nutrients in the seed are degraded. It’s a light yellow color. Because unrefined organic castor oil is less alkaline than JBCO, it is recommended for curly hair with an itchy or dry scalp that is prone to irritation.

2. Black Castor Oil from Jamaica:

Although Jamaican black castor oil is excellent, it has been severely processed, so it is not the ideal option if you prefer to eat organically. The procedure entails toasting, followed by pressing. The castor bean ashes are added to the oil, which gives it its dark hue. You are more likely to benefit from this oil, which is stronger at penetrating and cleaning, if you have straight hair and a healthy scalp.

This oil is also higher in alkalinity, making it a more clarifying oil that can aid with cuticle opening.

3. Castor Oil (Hydrogenated) (castor wax)

With the use of a nickel catalyst, pure castor oil is hydrogenated. Castor wax, unlike castor oil, is brittle, odorless, and water insoluble. It’s primarily found in cosmetics, varnishes, and enamels.

Castor Oil Products’ Top Benefits for Natural Hair Growth

1. Prevent hair loss

Castor oil contains ricinoleic acid, which increases blood circulation in the scalp. As a result, the follicle and scalp health improves, and hair loss is reduced. It strengthens the roots of your hair by nourishing the scalp and offering antimicrobial protection.

2. Promotes hair growth

Ricinoleic acid accounts for 90% of the nutritional value of castor oil (5). This, in combination with omega 6 and 9 fatty acids, penetrates the hair shaft and nourishes the roots, restoring health and promoting hair growth.

3. It’s utilized to get rid of dandruff.

Dandruff is typically caused by an underlying issue, such as an oily or itchy scalp. The antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, and antifungal characteristics of castor oil make it an efficient dandruff therapy. Ricinoleic acid is also renowned for balancing the pH of the scalp, making it healthier and less conducive to dandruff growth.

4. Preventing and Reducing Hair Breakage

Castor oil fills in the damaged keratin gaps in the hair. It strengthens the hair’s tensile strength, making it less prone to breakage. More information on How to Prevent Breakage in African Hair may be found here.

5. Strengthens hair

Castor oil penetrates the hair’s outer layer. Your hair will get thicker and stronger as a result of the additional regeneration and reduction of hair loss.

6. It’s a natural moisturizer

As previously said, the oil enters the outer layer of the hair and fills up the keratin damage places. By repairing the hair cuticles, this technique softens the hair on its own. It also reduces moisture loss in the shafts.

7. It darkens the hair

Jamaican Black Castor oil might help you achieve naturally darker and richer hair. Castor oil’s humectant properties assist your hair to retain moisture, resulting in a darker tone.

8. It guards against hair damage.

Castor oil’s fatty acids provide a protective coating on the hair, shielding it from sun damage and color loss. Natural oils are replenished, and your scalp is protected from the harm caused by strong chemicals found in colors and hair treatments.

9. Makes hair glossy

Castor oil, as previously stated, creates a protective layer throughout the shaft of the hair. As a result, your hair will reflect more light and appear softer and brighter.

Jostylin explains how to use castor oil for hair loss. Hair Growth Recipe using Castor Oil
In a cup of lukewarm cassia water, combine one tablespoon of castor oil. 2 drops Rosemary essential oil Fill a spray bottle with the mixture and massage it into your hair from the roots to the ends. Castor oil for hair is thicker in density, making it more difficult to wash. As a result, don’t use too much oil.

Castor oil can be difficult to wash because of its viscous nature. To get rid of the oil, you’ll have to use the shampoo numerous times. Another approach is to leave hair conditioner on for 30 minutes before showering. The oil should be easy to remove.

The following recipe for Castor Oil Deep Conditioner for Damaged Hair is ideal for promoting hair development. It can be produced in big batches and kept for a long time by adding a capsule of vitamin E oil to it. This oil blend is made up of four different oils: coconut, sweet almond, sesame, and castor.

While oils can be added or removed based on availability and desire, it is preferable to utilize all four oils.

What you’ll require:

2 tbsp. coconut oil (organic).
2 tbsp. sweet almond oil
1 tbsp. castor seed oil
1 cup Cassia tea water, warmed
1 teaspoon vitamin B complex liquid

How Frequently Should I Apply Castor Oil to Promote Hair Growth?
Castor oil has varying effects on different hair types. As a result, each person’s hair will react differently, and there is no specific amount of days that the oil should be used. A general suggestion is as follows:

Hair loss: Those who suffer from hair loss should apply the oil at least twice a week for at least four weeks to see noticeable improvements. You can use the oil 3-4 times each week if it is convenient.

Greater shine: On the other side, use castor oil as a conditioner once a week to give your hair a more lustrous appearance.

Split ends: Massage your hair with castor oil two or three times a week to prevent split ends. If possible, leave the oil overnight for better results.

Including Castor Oil in Your 4C Natural Hair Care Routine
The Jostylin daily care regimen for hair development and health is outlined below. Grow Natural Hair

Cover Your Hair with a Satin Bonnet: After applying the Castor oil treatment, place a satin bonnet over your head. The goal is to keep the moisture in the air. It’s best to wear a satin or silk scarf because they don’t absorb oil like other textiles. Grow Natural Hair

Braid your hair frequently: The greatest technique to protect your hair is to braid it. This lowers the amount of time hair is exposed to external variables like wind and cold. Braids come in a variety of styles, including Marley braids and box braids. Make sure the braids aren’t too tight on your hair, as this might lead to further breakage.
