But let me break things down so you know more about flexi rods on natural hair!
WHAT IS A FLEXI-ROD
In short, Flexi-rods are bendable yet flexible type of rods that can be used on your hair and producing some pretty amazing curls.
Now that you understand what a flexi rod is le’t look into some great benefits of using flexi rods on natural hair.
BENEFITS OF FLEXI RODS ON NATURAL HAIR
If you like voluminous curls without using heat on your hair then using flexi rods is a great way to go about it.
Did you know that flexi-rods provide a better grip when applying and therefore forming a more seamless curl when we compare the curls you get from them and from other curling methods such as curl formers, pin curls and so on.
Flexi rods work best on natural hair while they’re wet or when you go ahead and stretch it let’s say using the blowout method.
This style is for those that enjoy curly voluminous hair.
Don’t be worried if you don’t get it right, because they’re a little tricky to master at first, but once you get the hang of using them, you’ll fall in love with the curl that flexi rods on natural hair give you.

The videos below shows you exactly how it’s done right!
HOW TO MAINTAIN FLEXI-RODS
Learning how to install flexi rods is great but if you can’t maintain it then you will soon lose those beautiful curls!
But I am talking about the flexi rods themselves, how do you keep them fresh and clean?
Flexi rods can either be kept in the bag that they came in or in a small plastic storage bin, which can be placed under the bathroom sink ( or anywhere that you can find a place for them).
Know that flexi rods are very durable and long lasting so that means you won’t have to worry about these breaking they are very durable.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR FLEXI RODS TO CURL YOUR HAIR?
Now this depends on how long and thick your hair is.
If you have thick hair it might take longer time for it to dry up completely compared so another natural with thinner or shorter natural hair.
Don’t forget, If you choose to install flexi rods on wet hair it will take a longer time to dry that if you had it dry or blown out.
In general, hair that has a lot of product in it will take more time to dry than hair that has little to no product in it.
Another thing to notice is that tightly coily/curly hair types will take longer to dry than hair that has a looser curl pattern.
So you could experiment with the size of the flexi rod you wan to use if you have medium to long hair so you can modify your curly outcome.
Simple Steps To Achieve Your Best Flexi Rod Set Ever
I can’t tell you how many videos I’ve watched before trying my first flexi rod set, countless! (That was years back btw!)
I didn’t always get the same result as the lady on the screen so what I want you to know that you won’t always achieve what you see.
Your hair is unique and so should you expect.
The first thing you want to do is to start with clean, dry hair.
This is always best for optimum style results. But if you don’t have time for that then you can try dry hair but with little to no product.
In case your hair is all dried up yet clean, you should gently mist your hair with water to dampen, but not soaking wet.
Why? You prevent your hair from being prone to breakage
Next, you should apply a moisturizing lotion like Almond & Avocado Daily Moisturizing Lotion to your hair.
Don’t forget to detangle gently with a wide-tooth comb to distribute the product evenly.
Part your hair like a boss!
Parting your hair is really important when you want to get some pretty cute flexi rod curls.
Start by parting your hair into 5 sections or more – two at the back, and one on each side, in addition to a 5th section coming forward over the face. (You can do any parting you want if you know the style you want to achieve)
Parting in sections makes the hair more workable and creates guidelines for where the curls will fall at the end of the style.
Let’s flexi rod together!
Next, You should start flexi rodding your hair (is tht even a word?!)
Take your first section by starting from the back, and apply 2-3 pumps of Almond & Avocado Curl Enhancing Mousse to the entire section.
Then use your Denman brush to brush through the mousse into the entire section.
Frizz go away, come again another day (don’t come lol)
Just to be safe and to minimize frizz you can spritz your entire head with Almond & Avocado Curl Control & Shine Mist. (This will also help your curls stay in place)
It’s time to dry those curls!
Now for the drying process to be faster, sit under a hooded dryer for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until completely dry.
If your hair still feels damp, add more time.
It’s really important to have all the hair dried up because your style results depend on it, dry hair is necessary.
Take down time, yasss!
It’s time to take them down if your hair is 100% dry (don’t rush gurl) and make sure to remove them carefully, each at a time.
You can simply finger coil your curls if they get out of hand and they will get back in to place.
Separate those curls!
Time to separate! Finger curl carefully in the direction of the hair. This will help you create volume while minimizing frizz.
and.. Boom you have some pretty amazing heatless curls!
